Our foundation is dedicated
to do whatever is necessary to ensure that these kids are not left to feel they
cannot succeed in school. Our intention is simple; If a child wants to join or
participate in any school sponsored activity we will be there. The Cpl. Joe
McCarthy Foundation will pay any fees, purchase supplies, and provide
instruments needed to participate in school activities. Last year we even
purchased glasses for a student at the teacher’s request. No child should feel
discouraged from getting the most out of their education because their family
cannot afford the costs involved. We need to keep these kids active and excited
about going to school. Participating in their own education is something that
can only improve their future.
We also have formed two $500.00 Fine Arts scholarships to be awarded for those who are creative in heart and mind. This is an area where society has failed our youth. Singing, dancing, and creating, are talents that come naturally to these kids and we’ve just allowed them to be cut away with fiscal budgets. We all know at least one child who dares to dream and create, and express. They are the ones who need this type of encouragement most. Our third goal is to construct the St Johns Veterans Memorial, to honor our town’s silent heroes. These unselfish men and women, leave everything to go off and protect us from far away. They return as if nothing happened and walk silently amongst us. We cannot think of a better way to say thank you to them. The Memorial will host the image of Cpl Joe McCarthy (USMC) handing two Iraqi children candy on April 22nd 2004 just outside of Fallujah, Iraq. This is a perfect example of our fighting military forces. It shows the heart of many of our troops that serve. This memorial statue will hold the names of any military person(s) who have given their life defending freedom. Our children are our future, and our service men and women help ensure that their tomorrow will be safe. That is why we are asking for any donation that you can give. There is no better way for your money to be spent than to help make sure that our children are allowed every opportunity available to them through their education. Our veterans deserve to be honored, respected, and remembered for their sacrifices. The St. Johns Veterans Memorial will do just that. Our board and committee members are all volunteers, therefore eliminating the administrative costs of running the foundation. This allows more money to go directly to our programs so we can “Reach Out” to more of those in need.
Thank You from the Cpl. Joe
McCarthy Foundation,
